More model informationThe 239 ft schooner barge Northwest, built in 1873, was one of the largest schooner barges built on the lakes. It was carrying a load of corn under tow of steamer Aurora in 1898 when it struck ice which caused it to take on water and sink on the Lake Michigan side of the Straits of Mackinac off McGulphin Point. It lies in 70 ft of water and is a popular dive site in the Straits Preserve. The model was created from 2,337 HD and 30 Megapixel images shot with a GoPro and a Canon 5D camera.
