Description: The rich play of color in some Opals gives them unsurpassed splendor and mystique. For this reason, Opal is one of the most fascinating and fabled gemstones. Many theories attempted to explain the cause of the play of color in Opal. Opalescence represents the color effect in some Opals (or other gemstones) which causes them to exhibit a glimmer of different colors when rotated or seen in different angles. This specimen shows vivid bright flashes of candy-apple orange, green and blue play of colors (fire).
