More model information

Deadeye is a rigging block. It is made from oak and has round shape with three roping holes. Deadeye is furnished with the iron forging. It originates from the underwater excavations “Zaporizhska chaika” by V. Nefyodov (1999) in Dnipro River nearby the present-day city of Zaporizhya. Deadeye is attributed to the Russo-Turkish war of 1735—1739.

Artefact is located on Khortytsia Island and is a part of Khortytsia Natioinal Reserve.

The model was digitized in the course of the project “Preserving Ukrainian Legacy,” supported by the US Embassy in Ukraine (Kyiv) and the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. It is a joint ownership of National Reserve “Khortytsia” non-profit organization “CyArk” and NGO “Scientific Research Lab “Archaic”.
