This is a 3D model of an oat milk tetrapak of the brand “oatly”. It was made by the student Paula Dickmann in the program Media Studies: Digital Cultures at Maastricht University within the course “Digital Collections 1”. The overall task for each student was to create a 3D model of an object that represents one aspect of the 21st century and fits into a virtual time capsule. Oat milk and other plant-based milk substitutes have become very popular in the last years and represent the emergence of climate-change awareness and growing veganism trends. The background colour of this 3D model was chosen to imitate the colour of oat milk.
This 3D model has been created with the photogrammetry software Agisoft Metashape, which can be used for free in a test subscription (only for 30 days). 107 photos of the oat milk have been taken and served as data set for the processof creating the 3D model. Size of original object: height: 23 cm, length: 7cm, 7 cm width.
