Visualization of global oceanic currents, averaged on the month of September 2019.

  • Created in Python (using Matplotlib, NetCDF4, Scipy and Numpy modules)
  • Public ocean data from the NCEP Global Ocean Data Assimilation System (GODAS)
  • Particles colored according to speed (using the “bone” colormap in Matplotlib)

If you are curious, here is a similar model made by using similar tools and data, showing an animation of the winds and precipitation on September 1st, 2019.
