The Ochtiná Church (now Evangelical), originally dedicated to St. Nicholas, is among the oldest and most interesting landmarks of the Gemer region. The Gothic church was built on the site of a destroyed Romanesque structure as a single nave with a presbytery and a northern sacristy. The northern side nave with a stellar vault was added at the beginning of the 16th century, and the ceiling of the nave with Prussian vaults dates back to the 18th century.
Gothic wall paintings from the mid-14th century cover the entire interior of the presbytery and are fragmentarily preserved in the attic space of the church. The author of the Ochtiná paintings – the Master of the Ochtiná Presbytery – can be identified with the author of the Koceľovská Presbytery.
