More model informationFragment of a stone slab bearing Irish ogham characters, from Poltalloch, Kilmartin, Argyll, Scotland 500 - 900 AD. One end is damaged but the best reconstruction suggests the ogham characters possibly read ‘C R O N [A] N’. Cronan was a popular male personal name. In Old Gaelic it refers to a reddish-brown colour, which was used to describe both warriors and battles.
