Old Brickell Cannon

3D Model

This was our first 3D model using Photoscan. It was created during the summer 2015 fieldschool.

The photographs were taken by MA student Lauren Christian using an “off the shelf” Canon PowerShot D10 digital camera (30 photos). Processing and editing was undertaken by Nathan Richards.

The cannon is located in downtown Greenville, NC (Town Commons) at N 35° 36.950 W 077° 22.322. It was placed there in 1976. Reputedly it is “One of the cannons with which Pitt County resident Joseph Brickell armed his trading vessels about 1797 for defense against the French encroachments on American Commerce.”
