More model informationConstellations are patterns or groupings of stars as they appear from our vantage point on Earth, but they are not physically linked or connected in space. They are essentially two-dimensional projections of stars onto the celestial sphere, which is an imaginary sphere surrounding Earth. The stars in a constellation may appear close together when viewed from Earth, but this is purely a result of our line of sight. This model presents a 3D projection of the major stars in the Orion constellation (Distance along the line of sight are not in scale with distances along the sky), where we can appreciate how the aspect of the constellation changes as we change the point of view.
