The church was built in the style of northern Russian churches. Its construction was financed by the St. Petersburg merchant Chukasov. The design and construction supervision was in the hands of the war engineer Rashevsky, the church was built by the craftsmen of Daugavpils fortress. The church was consecrated in 1897. It is a one-storey wooden log house, which is not clad with boards. The four-sloped roof is covered with diamond-shaped plates. The church has nine towers, the frames of which are covered with boards, and they have five different shapes. Above the side entrances to the roofs are pointed towers with a four-sloped roof. No nails were used in the construction of the church.
