This 3D model is of the decorated orthostat L5 within the passage at Cairn T, Loughcrew, County Meath, Ireland (SMR No. ME015-012004-). The tomb’s passage is aligned on the equinox - at these times of year the rising sun shines along the passage and illuminates the orthostat at the rear of the passage. The decorated orthostat is located on the southern side of the passage. The decorations include circular motifs, arcs and deep hollows. These were “pecked” into the stone using a sharp implement, possibly made of flint or quartz.
The original object was recorded using the Artec EVA structured light hand scanner and processed using Artec Studio, Geomagic, and 3DS Max. Textures have been sythetically generated from the objects geometry using Marmoset Toolbag & Substance Painter.
