Orthostat T1.6, Dowth Hall Passage Tomb (photo)3D ModelNoAI
Greywacke orthostat on the western side of Stall C of the northern chamber (Tomb 1) of the Dowth Hall Passage Tomb . On the upper part of the south face, there is an incised, segmented motif, one triangle of which is pecked. This may be an unfinished design, as the vertical incised line that extends down from it could have been intended to be flanked by more pecked triangles. This vertical line is cut by a shallow, pecked, subcircular dot, and there is a deeper dot/cupmark located immediately to the west. There are also multiple incised radial and horizontal lines just under the segmented motif, to the west of the vertical line. On the north face, there are c.6 slightly curved, incised lines that extend vertically downward from the upper face. Though possibly modern, the trace of these lines is still visible where the patina of the stone has been removed.
