Við fornleifarannsókn í Firði í Seyðisfirði var grafinn könnunarskurður norðan við skálann sem leiddi í ljós öskuhaug frá um 940-1100. Yfir 300 gripir hafa fundist í haugnum. Hann mældist yfir 1 m á þykkt og 18 x 8 m á lengd og breidd. Uppgröfturinn er á vegum Antikva ehf. undir stjórn Ragnheiðar Traustadóttur.
An archaeological excavation was conducted in a midden located north of a longhouse in Fjörður in Seyðisfjörður, the eastern part of Iceland. Only part of the midden was excavated, but research will continue next summer. It measured over 1 m in thickness and 18 x 8 m in length and width. Based on the analysis of tephra layers and underlying landslides, the midden is estimated to date back to approximately 940-1100. The excavation yielded a treasure trove of artifacts, resulting in the registration of over 300 items. The excavation is overseen by Antikva ehf. under the direction of Ragnheiður Traustadóttir.
