More model informationA fragment of a Roman cup was discovered by a metal detectorist working with the Ouse and Derwent Project on the site of our 2018 excavation at North Duffield. It was red terra sigillata, ‘Samian ware’ that was imported from Central Gaul in modern day France.
Another distinctive sherd of Samian ware was recovered during the excavation, part of a flanged bowl. Both probably date to the 2nd century AD and are characteristically fine Roman table wares.
This is a 3D reconstruction of what the vessels would have looked like when new.
