Preliminary test upload of prototype for proposed Waitemata Harbour entrance 30 meter waterfront bronze & copper statue at Takaparawhā - Bastion Point, Auckland - Aotearoa New Zealand. Some have suggested this could be Aotearoa’s equivalent to America’s Statue of Liberty - gifted by France to the USA in 1886 (French ship “Isere” nearly sank on the way to New York). The next version - work-in-progress - will include far more detail & perhaps context (topography of the possible site). The full-scale statue would face true North & ideally have an internal lift shaft with a surrounding spiral staircase & possibly a 360° viewing platform at the top of the korowai cloak. The Huia feather atop would cast a shadow as a sundial on the surrounding grass field (on a good day) which would have twelve round bronze plaques with Roman numerals which can be unlocked & relocated each spring & autumn to adjust for NZ summertime daylight saving.
