More model informationIn the 1920s, Julius Rosenwald, chairman of Sears and Roebuck, Co., started a program to support the development of African-American schools in the southern United States. The program required the local community to raise half the funds necessary to build the school, at which time Mr. Rosenwald would donate the remaining amount. The Parrish Hill School is a Rosenwald School located in Charles City, Virginia along Route 5 and the Capital Trail. Restoration efforts are currently underway.
