Type: Metamorphic rock
Description: This is a tectonized nodular limestone with white calcite-filled veins. Marble is a medium to coarse-grained, non-foliated, a metamorphosed (recrystallized) carbonate rock (limestone - calcite mineral, dolomite rock - dolomite mineral). Marble is mostly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Marble in Geology has somewhat more restrictive meaning than in commerce.
Essential minerals: Calcite
Non-essential minerals: sometimes none :), but Graphite, Pyrite, Ilmenite can be present.
