The Estonian Safety Investigation Bureau (Ohutusjuurdluse Keskus), the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority and the Finnish Safety Investigation Authority are performing a preliminary assessment of the new information that became evident in September 2020 about holes in the hull of the passenger ferry Estonia.
The purpose of the digital model of the ferry Estonia is to give as accurate as possible overview of the external appearance and the constructional and technical characteristics of the original vessel as of 27 September 1994. The model has been created for the purpose of 3D-printing a physical model of the vessel and for demonstrating the vessel during various surveys and in public.
This digital model is the most accurate and authentic model of the ferry Estonia made so far, as it is based on the shipyard’s original drawings and relevant photographic and video material (including post-delivery modifications).
The model was modelled by OÜ Polüwerk as part of a public procurement procedure.
