This paten was created in Western Europe or in Poland according to western patterns. The paten, along with the chalice (Dep. 315), was found in an abbot’s grave in 1961 during excavations carried out in the chancel of the monastery church in Tyniec. The paten has both the outer rim and inner bottom of a circular shape. The rim bears no decoration. The surface of the bottom shows depictions of clouds from which the hand of God emerges, shown with a cross in the background, presented in a gesture of blessing.
