This is a 3D rendering of both column pelvic fracture from CT images using 3D slicer. 3D visualization allows for a clear, accurate depiction of the severity and extend of the fracture. The fracture involves the anterior and posterior columns of the pelvic bone, classified as both colum fracture. Characterized by free acetbaular segmants and loss of articulation of the femoral head with the acetabulam. This fracture most commonly effects the elderly and requires surgical managment.
This model depicts the “spur sign”, which is diagnostic of a both column fracture. It also shows disruption of the iliopectineal line, and obturator foramen. Fracture line through the iliac wing can also be appreciated. CT images from OsiriX DICOM Image Library.
