There str six penitential beds on Station Island. The beds are dedicated to St Brigid (1), St Brendan (2), St Catherine (3), St Columba (4), St Patrick (5) and Sts Davog and Molaise (6).
At each bed pilgrims walk clockwise three times around the outside while reciting three Our Fathers, three Hail Marys and one Creed; they kneel at the entrance and repeat these prayers; they enter the bed and walk three times around the inside repeating these prayers; finally they kneel at the iron cross at the centre of the bed and repeat the prayers. At the beds dedicated to St Patrick and Sts Davog and Molaise the pilgrim makes six rounds of the outside reciting six Our Fathers, six Hail Marys and one Creed, and then completes the later stages of each bed in turn.
