A bottle of Perry Davis Vegetable Pain Killer, modelled in Blender from reference images.
This pain killer was patented by Perry Davis in 1845 USA. The elixer was a combination of opium, alcohol, and herbs first formulated in 1839, and marketed worldwide as an internal and external pain remedy. It was provided to both soldiers and horses during the American civial war., and distributed globally by missionaries. The product remained available until 1958.
A bottle of the pain killer was found during excavation of a 19th century archaeological site in rural Victoria, Australia in 2015. This model was produced as part of a wider reconstruction for the Mernda VR Project, experimenting with VR reproductions of rural archaeological sites to consider whether VR reproductions are a viable means of fostering engagement with rural archaeological heritage.
