More model informationThe 128 ft two masted schooner Persian was built in 1855 in Oswego, NY. It was carrying wheat upbound on Lake Huron when it was hit by the E. B. Allen reported to be off Presque Isle while the Allen was trying to pass it. The captain of the Allen saw it was headed toward shore and did not stop. The Persian never made shore and sank killing the entire crew. The incident was not reported until the E. B. Allen arrived in Chicago. Today the wreck is in the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and a great example of a pre-Civil War schooner. The model was created from 1,626 30-megapixel images shot on one DPV dive by Andrew Goodman in the 2024 season.
