The parish church of St. Martin is located in the center of the market town of Lassee. The former fortified church is a mighty medieval church building with a high south tower surrounded by a cemetery. A parish incorporated into Melk Abbey existed before 1189. There was a former churchyard around the church dating from 1497, which was originally surrounded by a double rampart and a defensive niche wall with embrasures; remains have been preserved in the north. In 1663, the churchyard was still mentioned as a place of refuge. In 1706, the Kuruc invasions caused severe damage. The original single-nave Romanesque ashlar building from the 13th century was extended to a three-nave basilica in the 14th century. The church was baroqueized between 1695 and 1698. To the south is the four-storey fortified tower with Romanesque ashlar masonry with embrasures in the lower storeys, above the former bell storey is a raised new bell storey, the tower has a pointed spire.
