PGV2588 Left Femur Diaphysis Fracture 3D Model
The individual PGV10 2588 is a male with an age category of 36 – 45 years old. The fracture is very well healed & remodeled with the overlap of the two parts causing the shortening to the length comparatively to the right side. This would have caused a variation in how he walked & his overall mobility, although there does not appear to be marked joint changes at the proximal & distal ends. For the area & time period in which he lived it is interesting to see how well healed the fracture is suggesting that he must have been able to rest & have a degree of care. The skeletal remains of this male were found during excavations by AOC archaeology in response to a development in Bethnal Green revealing part of an area that had been a privately run burial ground, in use between 1840-1855. The area in East London was socially deprived with the individuals being of a poorer economic status & many of the 1033 individuals excavated exhibiting diseases associated with living in such conditions.
