Age: Middle Devonian (Givetian) Rock unit: Silica Shale of the Traverse Group
Locality: Sylvania, Lucas Co., OH
This specimen is an example of 1 of the 2 subspecies of Phacops found in the Silica Shale, the other being P. r. milleri Stewart, 1927. The trilobite’s length is almost 10 cm. Phacops rana is the state fossil of Pennsylvania.
