The Phalancx Class is a second generation warship designed around a compact Calabi-Yau warp drive. Armed with 6 forward and 2 rear facing mass drivers, 2 orbital bombardment mass drivers, a number of EMP missiles and a complement of point defence lasers, the Phalanx is a leathal orbital assualt platform. It’s most dangerous weapons are its kinetic orbital bombardment rods, simple tungstine rods capable of delivering an equivilent of 22 megatons of TNT to surface targets. The ship’s primary defence is comprised of an electro-static sheild made up of ionized argon gas. This shield is highly effective against lasers but offers negligagble protection against kinetic rounds and can be stripped away by an EMP. The armor of the ship is designed not to stop projectiles but rather to minimize internal and crew damage. It’s large hanger bay contains 4 troop drop ships and can be outfited with fighters or bombers as the mission requires.
