Scientific Illustration and Visulisation
Please find enclosed a 3D model of a Common Whelk Shell, found on one of my favourite beaches on Islay. Kintra. Created during a Photogrammetry Workshop at University.
Regular Name: ~ Common Whelk | Scientific/ Latin Name: ~ Buccinum Undatum | Phylum: ~ Mollusca (Sea Snail and Sea Slugs) | Habitat: ~ Marine
The Common Whelk is the largest sea snail found in Britains seas. It is commonly found off of all British coasts from Britain to Ireland…
On this unoccupied shell I have included a few key identifying features so that if you ever happen to be on a stroll along the beach collecting shells you can keep an eye out for one.
I will also provide a few interesting links for those who would like to find out more about these fascinating creatures…
