Pindad SS2 (Senapan Serbu 2, literally “Assault Rifle 2”) is a rifle made by PT. Pindad (Perindustrian Angkatan Darat, lit. “Army Industry”). The weapon is a direct upgrade from the previous SS1, which is a FN FNC with tropical climate adjustments. The FN FNC is and has been the standard issued rifle of the Indonesian Army since 2006. It uses gas piston, rotating bolt mechanism, combining the best of both the AK and AR family ensuring precision and ruggedness. The weapon has alot of variants including heavy barrel precision variant, carbine/PDW variant, and even a subsonic variant. There’s a picatinny rail on top of the receiver making optic mounting easier, but by default, the weapon has a detachable carry handle/iron sight like on the M16A4. Under the handguard, a Pindad SPG1-V4 can also be added. The tangent sight for the Grenade Launcher is put inside the carry handle
