解説 / Description:
印籠は、元々印章を収めたためこの名がついた。江戸時代には男性用アクセサリーと化し、優れた工人が名作を遺した。この印籠は下絵を狩野栄信、蒔絵を原羊遊斎が担ったもの。研出蒔絵で松を描き、根付の兎は象牙、緒締は水晶で出来ている。

Inrō (pill case) was originally named for the seals it contained. In the Edo period, it became a men’s accessory, and excellent craftsmen left behind masterpieces. This inrō was designed by Kanō Naganobu and maki-e done by Hara Yōyūsai. The pine tree is drawn in polished maki-e lacquer, and the ojime (string-fastener) is made of crystal.
