More model informationSaddle makers in the 18th centry England designed saddles suited for riders hunting foxes. There are unique variations of English-style saddles based on the activity of the horse and rider like dressage, jumping, and eventing.
Saddletrees underpinning these English-style saddles are made of much thinner pieces of wood than their Western cousins, which are then reinforced with metal plates called “irons” in order to withstand the stress of horseback riding. Saddle makers add a seat, padding, leather and stirrups to complete the saddle.
