Cattle were useful not only for meat, but also as draft animals. The Egyptians did not have horses until the New Kingdom, and they were used for war, not drafting. Farming was the primary occupation of the ancient Egyptian population. These small-scale grave goods were gradually collected over the owner’s lifetime. Some show signs of having been played with by the children of the home.
