Plum Orchard Mansion Pumphouse

There is an octagon-shaped structure located behind the Plum Orchard Mansion on the Cumberland Island National Seashore, Georgia. This is one of two similar structures found at the site. The structure is made of stucco over a wood frame and was originally built in c. 1900 with ribbed metal roofing. Today, it has fiber-cement shingles. In 1979, a well was dug, and the octagon-shaped pumphouse was used to house a water pump, chlorinator unit, and firefighting equipment.
