More model informationThis hinged case container was designed to hold a terrestrial pocket globe, popular in the late 1700s to early 1800s. The case is made of wood covered with black sharkskin, with a brass hinge and interior image that depicts a celestial or star chart map. This case and the globe that it contains, are on display at the Tampa Bay History Center (TBHC) and were digitized as part of a partnership between TBHC and the University of South Florida Libraries/Digital Heritage and Humanities Center.
