Application history
Regular samples of police batons appear in the 19th century, with the appearance in the states and countries of Europe of the national police (having a centralized system of supply and training of personnel).
In the police of other countries
The British police adopted short straight batons made of solid wood (billy club) appeared in 1848, in the Victorian era. Since the 1930s, they began to be made of rubber.
In India, 1.5-meter-long wooden batons (lathi) were adopted for the colonial police.
The Japanese police, created in 1874, were armed with a 125 cm long straight wooden keijo baton in the late 1930s (previously, the police were armed with short swords)
In 1941-1944, on the territory of the USSR occupied by Germany and its allies, wooden and rubber batons were in service with camp and auxiliary police officers.
