Polychrome Reconstruction of the Pandora Frieze3D Model
This is a polychrome reconstruction of the Birth of Pandora frieze from the base of the 5th-century statue of Athena Parthenos in the Parthenon. The reconstruction was initially modeled on the base of Alan LeQuire’s Athena in the Parthenon in Nashville, TN, USA. While LeQuire’s Athena and her base have been colored to resemble chryselephantine sculpture, my model represents a “thought experiment”: what would Athena’s base look like, if decorated with painted marble figures on a grey stone background (cf. Erechtheion frieze, or statue bases in the Hephaisteion in Athens, or at Rhamnous).
Initial model created in Agisoft Metashape Version 1.5.5 using 202 images (thanks to B. Frischer, M. Brennan, N. Plank, and B. Robinson). Settings were all run on high. Four additional models of the faces of my family members were created in Metashape, run on high, ultra high, and high settings.
Zbrush 2018 was used to merge models of the four faces into the model of the frieze. Polypaint in Zbrush was used to add color.
