More model informationThe originial laundry marking machine by manufacturer Polymark was launched in the 1950s, and was used to tag garments and other laundry items with temporary labels so that they could be easily identified after going through the industrial laundry.
A number of former Magdalene women at the Sean MacDermott St laundry recall working at the ‘Polymark’ station, or being ‘Polymarkers’ in their oral testimonies; sections of which are included with the model.
The model offers a valuable illustration of these memories and insight into this aspect of these women’s lives, labours and confinement in Sean MacDermott Street Magdalne Laundry.
