Pont Sarn Wyth-dŵr Causeway Laser Scan3D ModelNoAI
The causeway, a Grade II Listed Building and part of the Slate Landscapes of NW Wales World Heritage Site, is thought to have originally been built between 1805 and 1830 as part of a road used to transport slate from the Tan-yr-allt Quarry up to the main east-west road near Talysarn Quarry, and later, the Nantlle Railway. It was modified and rebuilt twice during the 19th century, once between 1837-8, and again in 1855. The causeway and its immediate environs were heavily overgrown with self-seeded trees and shrubs which have recently been partially removed from the southwestern end of its deck and part of the ground on its immediate northwestern side. The clearance work was undertaken by Bangor University staff and undergraduate students and representatives of Dorothea Pumped Hydro Ltd in September 2023 to facilitate a detailed condition assessment of the causeway. The model has been generated from a laser scan survey of the newly accessible parts of the structure by GAT and Bangor University students.
