More model informationThis is a portrait bust of John Milton (1608-1674). He was a writer and a poet who moved to Chalfont St Giles to escape the plague in London. He suffered a bilateral retinal detachment in 1652 and by the time he wrote the poem he is famous for, Paradise Lost, he was blind in both eyes. This is part of a collection held at Milton’s Cottage, Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire.
