More model informationThis comb was recovered from beneath an 18th century staircase in Fishergate Postern Tower, York. It was unearthed by a volunteer from the Friends of York Walls in December 2018 during an excavation that facilitated the installation of an electricity supply to the medieval tower. The comb is made from the ivory of an African elephant and is likely to have been used by a former resident of the tower.
