For comparison with the double tiebeam to show the different construction methods in the barn.
A 3D model of the Tithe Barn timber roof was carried out as part of the Cotswolds Hidden Crucks Project.
Dendrochronology dating by Dr Andy Moir (Tree-Ring Services) was carried out on timbers from the roof. This produced an unexpectedly late and does not fit the early stylistic features. Extensive repair of timbers was noted and it is considered likely that the repairs to the barn may have been more extensive than initially understood. It suggests that the tree-ring dates identified date a phase of repair that occurred in 1603, or soon after. Additional timber sampling at high level is recommended to date the construction of this barn.
