A power armor set which uses the decal method popularized by Tor Frick and Star Citizen.
This armor was created originally for Second Life (under commission for an FPS group called ‘New Rome’). The Second Life engine does not have any decal-specific shaders.... to make up for this, I manually textured the materials of the decals to match their underlying material. The entire set (including decals) uses a single 2048 UV space, split up into four 1024s due to SL’s max resolution limit for textures.
The armor is an original design based on a mixture of the styles of Warhammer and Fallout 3/New Vegas power armors. It is built in a manner to be used via hardpoint attachments rather then rigging to allow for increased customizability in the game.
All modeling was done in Blender with the help of both the Hardops plugin and the Decalmachine plugin. Texturing was done in Substance Painter. Shown here in Metalness PBR.
NOTE: This was triangulated before upload, so the face count is in triangles.
