This is a fossil of the cranium of a prehistoric snapping turtle (Protockelydra zangerli). This fossil is part of the Science Museum of Minnesota Paleontology collection.

note: the mandible (lower jaw) for this specimen does not exist, but there is a mandible of the same species of snapping turtle–but a different individual–in the Science Museum of Minnesota Paleontology collection.
