This monument to the Grand Duchess Charlotte is a bronze statue designed by the French sculptor Jean Cardot and is located at the center of Clairefontaine Square in the country of Luxembourg. It was unveiled in 1990 in honor of the former Grand Duchess Charlotte who was a driving part of the force that led the country out of World War 2 and helped to build it into the financial powerhouse that it is today.

The statue is 2.75 m high and stands on a flat, round base, which in turn rests on a plate-shaped base. The Duchess is shown wrapped in a wide cloak, from which her right arm is stretched out and the palm of her hand is turned to the sky in greeting. Since this gesture can also be interpreted as a “begging hand”, the memorial has earned the nickname “Heeschefraa” which means beggar woman in the local vernacular.
