Princess Sputnik is inspired upon Mark Ryden’s enchanting painting of a little space girl. It is my favourite of his collection “The Meat Show” http://www.markryden.com/paintings/meat/ Recently I had the unique chance of seeing some of Ryden’s best work at an exhibit near me, and meeting the artist himself! All of his work is really special and a very encouraging opportunity to have fun adapting his work to 3D. This little model was made using Blender and Photoshop. The sci-fi space suit was the coolest part to do, I especially love how all the shapes combine together. The baby was rigged then posed last to fit the tummy in its fetal position. I kept the textures high quality 4096, drew out some of the shadows staying true to the paintings style and colours. Hopefully this rendition is a nice homage to “the godfather of Pop Surrealism”.
