GUNPOWDER MAGAZINE (and Bastion nr III).
One of the most important buildings in the Zamość fortress. This particular building was used mainly for storing gunpowder milled in the “Szczebrzeska” dyke located outside the fortress’ main fortifications.
First evidence of the Magazine existence can be found in documents dated on 1837. Completed (probably) in 1840 and utilized in its primary role for around 20 years. After decomissioning of Zamość fortress, partly disassemblied and assigned for other applications.
