Project 56 destroyers, also known as the Spokoiny type (NATO code Kotlin), are a type of destroyers built for the Soviet Navy in 1953-1958. Project 56 destroyers became the last torpedo-artillery ships of this class in the USSR Navy.
From the moment they entered service until the end of the Cold War (for 30 years), Project 56 destroyers were very intensively used in all four fleets, since 1964 they actively participated in the combat service of the Soviet Navy and demonstrated the Soviet naval presence in the oceans, including in zones of armed conflicts.
