ProtoFluidics enables rapid prototyping of microfluidics in space. Many ISS experiments involve microfluidic devices, which use a system of small pipes and channels to run biological and chemical reactions with high precision.
Our CAD file includes standard elements of a microfluidic circuit, such as mixers, droplet generators, and pump fittings. With our modules, researchers can easily design custom microfluidic circuits to conduct experiments for chemical analysis and protein crystallization, capitalizing on the microgravity on station.
In the long run, rapid prototyping in space can provide microfluidics to future self-sustaining space colonies, which will need to produce diagnostic devices, mining analysis systems, and research tools.
