More model informationProtosphyraena nitida was a large, fast-swimming predatory fish that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 100 to 66 million years ago. It belonged to a group of extinct fish related to modern billfish, such as marlins and swordfish. Protosphyraena nitida had an elongated, streamlined body, sharp, sword-like snout, and long, slender pectoral fins, making it highly adapted for speed in open marine environments. It preyed on smaller fish and other marine creatures, using its sharp teeth to catch and slice through prey. Fossils of Protosphyraena nitida have been found in marine deposits across North America, particularly in the Western Interior Seaway.
