Puerta de San Nicolás or de Castilla, from the 16th century, the only one that remains standing. It is believed that it was built on the occasion of the visit of Felipe II. It is the only gate that remains in the medieval city wall. It is formed by a semi-circular arch, crowned by a pediment that has an eight-pointed star in its center, alluding to the city’s coat of arms. Pilgrims leave through it in the direction of Logroño, formerly belonging to the crown of Castile.
